Rosacea
Rosacea is skin condition affecting about 10% of the population, mainly women. It often starts in the 20s or 30s and can range from an overly rosy complexion to a bright red scaly or bumpy surface with pimples and pustules. Many people report a connection between certain foods, temperatures and stress playing roles in the worsening of their conditions. Blushing can make it painfully worse.
Many rosacea sufferers feel its impact on their self-esteem, as well as the physical symptoms of an unpleasant burning sensation and an attention grabbing skin tone. They can be mistakenly thought of as problem drinkers. Patients are encouraged to avoid conditions that stimulate a flare up. Unfortunately, it can get worse over time. Some become socially withdrawn, either as a result of embarrassment or an attempt to minimize conditions that trigger an attack. The more attacks are controlled, the fewer thread veins develop in the skin.
Rosacea can be treated with IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) instead of antibiotic lotions or pills. IPL stimulates your body's own natural mechanisms to improve and heal your skin to look and feel better! IPL can treat rosacea, and really improve your appearance. It uses various carefully calibrated wavelengths of the visible and infrared light spectrum to treat the blood vessels under the skin that are causing the problem.
With pulses that last a fraction of a second, the light penetrates a short distance into the skin. The energy from the light heats the fine blood vessels and damages them. They are gradually reabsorbed by the body. This reduces the appearance of inflammation and improves the overall appearance of your complexion. The treatment also stimulates the production of collagen in your skin, which slows down the production of more thread veins. As a bonus it also smoothes and tightens the skin, giving you a more youthful appearance. Treatment is not generally applied to men in their beard area, as it also reduces hair growth. |
